For new kitchens we use 12mm thick Quartz stone which is skillfully fabricated over and around a quality Birch plywood frame, producing worktops with an edge thickness of 36mm but can also be produced in any thickness from 12mm up to 150 mm for designer kitchens. They are just as tough and durable as solid stone worktops but because they are substantially lighter in weight this means less stress on your kitchen cabinets.
